After more than a year of closures, Bracebridge’s historic Silver Bridge is finally seeing major repair work. The District of Muskoka has launched the next phase of rehabilitation, with Clearwater Structures Inc. installing temporary support structures to ensure construction can proceed safely. The bridge is expected to reopen by the end of 2026.
The Silver Bridge, a landmark in Bracebridge, was closed to vehicles and pedestrians in January 2025 following a safety review. A detailed structural assessment revealed extensive repairs were needed to preserve the bridge for future generations.
“Silver Bridge isn’t just a road – it’s the heart of Bracebridge,” said James Steele, commissioner of engineering and public works. “We know how much this iconic structure means to the community. We’re working hard to keep residents informed and safe throughout this project and appreciate everyone’s patience.”
Detours remain in effect for access to the Manitoba Street area. Construction schedules may shift due to weather, but updates will be provided through the District website and municipal 511.
