MAHC honoured with patient advocacy award
Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) has received the Patient Advocacy Award from SeamlessMD, recognizing its efforts to improve patient-centred surgical care through digital innovation.
The award was presented at the SeamlessMD Conference held in Toronto in May. MAHC surgical transition nurse Shannon Hubbard attended the event on behalf of the organization and accepted the honour.
MAHC launched the SeamlessMD platform three years ago as part of its ongoing push to enhance pre-operative education and provide patients with greater support throughout their surgical experience. The digital system delivers reminders, educational materials, and recovery instructions before and after surgery, aiming to improve patient understanding and readiness while reducing anxiety and complications.
MAHC president and CEO Cheryl Harrison said the recognition reflects the organization’s commitment to extending care beyond hospital walls. “As healthcare continues to evolve, supporting patients beyond the walls of the hospital is increasingly important,” Harrison said, noting the program’s focus on innovation and compassionate care.
MAHC says the program has strengthened communication between patients and care teams and improved continuity of care across surgical services. The organization congratulated staff involved in the initiative for their work in advancing patient-focused care.
